It’s the last Play! by Sephora box of 2017! This one arrived sometime during the holiday chaos and with being sick, I didn’t get a chance to test out the products until this past week. Still it was fun to have new products to look forward to once I recovered!
Each month, the Play! by Sephora subscription comes with a detailed info sheet explaining the products and how to use each one.
The items come bundled in a cute, decorative bag. This month’s bag material isn’t my favorite because it seems to shed everywhere.
Let’s discuss the products and my first impressions!

I was excited to see this in the box because I LOVE the Drybar dry shampoo. It’s the only dry shampoo I’ve found that can really absorb oil and make my hair look nice when it’s a disaster. The Triple Sec is billed as being a texturizing, volumizing spray. I used it this week after letting my hair air dry, and I loved the results. My hair is typically pretty flat and frizzy, and this did a good job of making it look nice for the day. I’m going to continue using this, and so far I really like it!
Well, I don’t think I’m really going to be wearing this color anytime soon. I tried it on, and it was such a bright, bubblegum pink that it looked a bit ridiculous on me. The formula did seem nice and creamy, but the color is just a no go.
I’ve tried the Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks in the past, and while I do like them, they’ve never wowed me. This one is a light brown satin color – not shimmery, but certainly not matte. I used this all over my eye as a base and through the crease so it could act as a transition color. It worked pretty well, but again, I wasn’t wowed. Still, it’s a nice item to have in my inventory for a quick shadow application.
I feel like we get Stella McCartney perfumes in the Sephora box all the time. At this point, I think I’ve tried them all. Though this one wasn’t exceptionally exciting or new, I do enjoy the scent. It’s pleasant without being overpowering. I don’t find that the fragrance lasts very long on the skin though.
I was happy to see a liquid eyeliner product in the box this month. In my experience, liquid eyeliners, no matter the size, will last a very long time. This Clinique liner is a brush tip and applies very smoothly and easily. I didn’t have to spend more than a few seconds on each eye using this product. My only complaint is that the color isn’t very black. It came out as more of a dark charcoal color on me (though the color itself is listed as black). If it was just a little blacker, this eyeliner would get top ratings from me.
I love getting eye creams in subscription boxes! I especially love that this one has arrived just in time for me to take it traveling next month. I’ve tried this one before (possibly in another Sephora box?), and it’s a nice light formula. It absorbs into the skin quickly and does a fine job moisturizing. It’s not my favorite eye cream of all time, but it does the job.
