It’s BoxyCharm time! Lately, BoxyCharm has been upping their game and including lots of well known brands, and this box is no exception. I love seeing brands I’m already a fan of in subscription boxes!
This box ended up being very well rounded and included products from the likes of Mac, Briogeo, and ColourPop to name a few.
Let’s take a closer look!
One of the reasons I love BoxyCharm so much is because of the fun and interesting palettes they include. I just recently tried a Pur palette for the first time and really loved it. But my initial impressions on the Soiree Diaries haven’t been quite as positive. At first glance, the colors are beautiful and perfect for everyday looks.
However they’re not as pigmented as I had hoped and the shimmers don’t wow me. I will be using this as a selection for One Week One Palette coming up soon, so stay tuned for my more in depth thoughts there.
I think we were all pretty pumped when we heard that BoxyCharm was going to be including a product from MAC in an upcoming box. However, I was hoping for something just a little more exciting than this. It’s a plain brown eyebrow pencil, and I have other brow pencils in my collection that I like much more. The product was a little too hard and tough and the packaging is not retractable. If you roll it up too much, you can’t roll it back down. This isn’t the type of product that would make me run to MAC to check out what else they have.
This Briogeo mask is one I already know I love, and I also already own a full size! Even though I always enjoy discovering new products in subscription boxes, I’m never upset to receive more of a product I already love. This mask makes my hair feel so soft and smooth. It’s one of my favorite hair masks, and if you haven’t tried it I would highly recommend giving it a shot.
Before the July BoxyCharm, I had never tried anything from the brand Colourpop. I wasn’t impressed with the Ultra Matte that had been included then, but I was excited to try the Ultra Satin that arrived in this box. This is a much more comfortable formula and seems like it would be easy to wear, but this color looks plain awful on me. It’s a brownish grey and frankly it makes me look like a corpse. It’s so hard to find a good lip color in a subscription box! It seems like they just throw in the ones that aren’t selling well.
I’ve been on a bit of a mission lately looking for a new translucent setting powder, so this was a welcome addition to the box. I really enjoyed this! I’ve been using it to set my undereyes as well as the rest of my face and it works well in both areas. My face felt silky smooth after applying and helped my makeup stay in place all day. The only negative I have is that after a while it does start to feel a bit dry, so if you have dry skin it may not agree with you.
I have to say, I was happy to see a brush set included in this box that didn’t come with a blending brush! It seems that blending brushes are the most popular to receive in boxes and I already have more than I know what to do with. Both of these brushes are great quality, and I’m especially a fan of the shader brush. I don’t have enough of those in my collection and this one applied eyeshadow beautifully.
