In honor of this month’s Disney trip, I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of my favorite things to do while in Disney World. My husband and I have been to Disney many times over the years, and it’s one of our favorite places to travel. Thinking Out Loud Thursday is the perfect time to discuss some of my favorites from the parks.
Here are my 9 favorite things to do at Disney World!
1. The Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover
I love to start off our days at the Magic Kingdom here. This ride is really a guided tour around Tomorrowland, and it’s both relaxing and fun. If you’ve never been to the Magic Kingdom before, this is a great way to learn about what’s in the area and also get excited for things to come. It even takes you inside Space Mountain where sometimes you can see the tracks or hear the screams from the coaster.
2. Tomorrowland in General
Going hand in hand with #1, I just love Tomorrowland. I’m sure part of this is nostalgia because when I first when to Disney as a kid, Tomorrowland is what made me fall in love with the place. There’s futuristic music playing, space themes everywhere (I’m a huge space nerd) and lots of fun attractions. I love the atmosphere in this area!
3. Spaceship Earth
Let’s keep going with the space theme, but this time at Epcot. Spaceship Earth is another highly nostalgic ride for me and also one of the most classic attractions you’ll find in the parks. In case you’re unfamiliar, this is the ride inside of the giant “golf ball” at the beginning of the park. It takes you on a journey from the beginning of time and follows the evolution of communication. My favorite part is the all-encompassing space scene at the top of the ride.
4. Star Tours
I may not be a fan of Star Wars, but I’ve always been a fan of Star Tours. This attraction is in Hollywood Studios, where they’re currently building out an entire Star Wars Land. Star Tours is a 3D motion ride that simulates flying through space on different adventures straight out of the movies. I love it because of its space element and also because it’s a thrill ride that isn’t too scary.
5. The Japan Pavilion at Epcot
The Japan Pavilion at Epcot is a favorite of both mine and my husband’s. We’ve visited the real Japan a few times, and it’s one of our absolute favorite places in the world. If even in a small way, this pavilion brings us back to those memories, and the food and shopping are amazing.
6. Shopping at Mouse Gears
One of my other favorite places to shop is the giant souvenir shop called Mouse Gears near the entrance of Epcot. It’s one of the largest stores in the parks, and not only can you find fun and unique items, but it’s a great way to get some air conditioning and take a break. I always come away with a few souvenirs from this shop when we go.
7. Spontaneous Entertainment in the Streets
One of the more magical experiences at Disney is when something completely random and unexpected happens in the parks. Shows and parades are always kicking off and you never know when you’ll find yourself in the middle of one. I love when we’re walking from one side of the park to another and can hear music in the distance. Disney is great at keeping you entertained, even when you’re not looking for it.
8. Kilimanjaro Safaris at Animal Kingdom
Kilimanjaro Safaris is a safari tour through the animal grounds of the park. One of the things I love the most about this tour is that it’s different every time depending on what animals are out and active. As an animal lover, this attraction is one I can’t miss. I always end up with loads of pictures after this ride.
9. Epcot at Night
There is something magical about Epcot at night. They light torches all around the perimeter of the lagoon, play mysterious music from the speakers and everything is lit up beautifully. It’s a completely unique experience and the atmosphere makes you want to hang out and have fun all night. World Showcase at Epcot is full of food and drink options unique to each represented country. If you’re there during one of the festivals, this is a great time to try out the unique snacks that each one offers. Midnight snacking and drink sampling is one of my favorite things to do here!
Stay tuned next week when I tell you all about our latest trip, and the new things we’ve discovered!
