Now that Thanksgiving’s over, it’s time to settle in and embrace winter… right? Well, this month’s Play! by Sephora box seems to think so! The theme this month is “Survival of the Chillest”, and the focus is on self care for the colder months.
As usual, the products come bundled in a cute fabric bag.
And they include a detailed, fold-out information sheet with instructions on all the products.
Let’s take a look at what was in my box!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I love getting dry shampoo in subscription boxes! I always have a need for dry shampoo in my collection, and it’s fun to test out different brands. This one did a good job of absorbing oil without leaving a whitecast. It’s not as powerful as the Drybar Dry shampoo that I love, but it’s about as good as the Batiste. I will certainly use this up.
As advertised, this moisturizer is fairly lightweight and easy to use under makeup. I wasn’t a huge fan of the smell – though it’s the ingredients themselves rather than an added fragrance. I thought this did a decent job of moisturizing, but there wasn’t anything overly special about it.
This Purity Made Simple mask doubles as a clay mask and exfoliator. The exfoliator was more intense than I was expecting, but in a good way. If you’re looking for thorough exfoliation, this will do the trick! The mask dried down in about five minutes and washed off cleanly. It made my skin feel soft and smooth afterward, and I’m kind of sad that this sample is so tiny. This is a win.
This is a true red and would be perfect for the holidays. However, I know myself and even though this red is beautiful, I don’t see myself ever wearing a red lipstick. I decided to refrain from swatching and put this away for a future giveaway for someone who would enjoy it more than me.
I had never tried the Velvet Noir mascara before, so I was excited to give it a chance. The wand is reminiscent of the Too Faced Better Than Sex or the Loreal Lash Paradise and helps make your lashes extremely voluminous. I actually found the formula to be a little on the thick and clumpy side, and while it did wonders for volume, didn’t do as much as I would like for length. It’s nicer than most, but not the best I’ve ever tried.
This perfume is extremely sweet with strong notes of fruit and flowers. It’s actually a little overwhelming when first applied and takes a while to settle down on the skin. I don’t like it when I first spray it, but after it settles, the scent is pleasant. It’s not one I would go out of my way to try again, but if you like very sweet perfumes, you might like this one.
