This week’s edition of One Week One Palette features two very exciting palettes. In case you’re just tuning in, One Week One Palette is a series I started at the beginning of the year. I use one dedicated palette each week and every two weeks I write up mini reviews on the palettes.
Today we’re taking a look at a recent BoxyCharm palette as well as something I just couldn’t resist purchasing!
As you may know, this Tarte palette was the majorly hyped up featured item in the August BoxyCharm. I was personally very excited about it because I love Tarte palettes and this was one I didn’t have in my collection. Firstly, the outer packaging is just beautiful. It’s metallic and vibrant, and it feels like a substantial product.
I’ve reviewed a lot of Tarte palettes in my One Week One Palette series over the course of this year and some have certainly been better than others. I feel like this one is somewhere in the middle. It’s very much a neutral palette, but the shades are pigmented and show up great on the eyes.
One problem that I also touched on in my BoxyCharm review is that the light matte shade called Conch seemed to be developing hard pan after just a few uses. This also happened in the Rainforest of the Sea Volume 3, so I’m wondering if this is a trend.
Setting that aside, I really love the light shimmers in this palette. They show up so well even on my very fair skin. The light white color is blinding! I feel like the mattes could be a little more blendable as I did have some trouble with a few of them looking smooth on the lid. Overall I do really enjoy this palette and those amazing shimmers will be what brings me back in the future.
I’ll be honest – I bought this palette based entirely on my love of My Little Pony and barely gave the colors a second glance before hitting “add to cart”. Which makes it all the more amazing that this palette turned out so good!
I actually LOVE the color selection here, even though I usually tend to gravitate toward neutral colors. To start off the week, I used the colors Twilight Sparkle and Magic and the effect was, dare I say, magical. I experimented so much with this palette, and I still feel like there are tons of looks I’ve yet to try. The combinations feel endless. The only complaint I have is that some of the “brighter” colors were not as vibrant as I had hoped, in particular the green shade Loyalty.
I can’t wait to keep playing with this palette in the future!
